Boston's room

So, I have to show off Boston's room. I love the way it turned out. Those of you who know me know that I am NOT crafty, haha not at all and I made those letters all by myself! And I love them. :)

Happy one week and 2 days Boston!

I meant to write this post on Friday when it was actually exactly one week but I was too tired. :) Anyway, my little sweet baby is ALREADY more than one week old! I can't believe how fast that time has gone and I can already tell that this is going to go much much faster than I want it to. I seriously could keep him in this stage for at least a year. He is the best little baby ( so far, knock on wood) and is so so sweet. I really am so grateful for my whole experience so far. I didn't get sick during my pregnancy, I didn't get super swollen at the end, I had a really quick labor, my baby was healthy, he is so cute and so sweet, he is nursing great and only gets up like once or twice in the night. I've had a great recovery so far, I feel great and have been up and around and off of the painkillers. I really couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. I am not saying any of this to brag, just expressing my gratitude and my fear that this may mean I am supposed to have 15 children. Haha, yeah right, that will not happen. Really though, I am trying to just soak it all in and remind myself constantly how lucky I really am. I am totally head over heels in love with this little guy, I can't sleep at night when he is awake because I just stare at him, and that bassinet we bought that I wanted really bad... yeah... I can't put him down! He has slept either on my chest or just right next to me every night so far. And sometimes I want to complain that I feel like all I do is nurse and nurse and nurse again like I am a cow or something, but really I enjoy that time I get to spend alone with him. It is such a special bond that only a mother and her child can share. I was a little worried about quitting my job and being home all day but I can tell now that I am going to LOVE being a mom and being able to hang out with Boston all day every day. I am so grateful that I am able to stay home with him and that I have a wonderful husband that I know would do anthing to make sure that I can. We've had so much fun this last week having Boston home! He has already changed so much in only a week. Here are some more pictures that we took this week...

Ahhh....

Little mullet :)

Brett loves to have Boston sleep on his chest. I thought this was cute.

Welcome Baby Boston!!

Little Boston is here! This might be the most exciting blog entry (for me) that I will ever write! We are so excited to welcome this new little baby into our lives. Boston Riley Sundberg was born Friday, March 21, 2008 at 5:06 p.m. at American Fork hospital. He weighed 6 lbs, 14oz and is 18 inches long. He has skinny little arms and legs and giant hands and feet! We are both doing very well, both healthy and feeling good. To see all of the pictures we took you can go to http://gallery.mac.com/brettsundberg
For those of you who are wondering how things went, I'll give you the minor details. He came exactly 2 weeks early, the Dr. stripped my membranes on Thursday afternoon and I started having regular contractions that night but not anything to rush to the hospital with. They kind of died down and I went to bed that night. The next morning I got up to get ready for work and was having regular, starting to be painful contractions that were about 3-4 minutes apart. I went to work, no idea why, pretty sure I was in major denial mode at this point, trying to pretend that he wasn't really going to come and I wasn't really going to have to do the whole labor thing... Anyway, I was there for about 3o min before I left again and went home to hurry and sraighten my house and pack a bag. We got to the hospital at 11:00am and I was a 3, 80% efaced. They let me lay there for an hour and during that time my contractions got really really painful. They cheked me after an hour and admitted me, I had progressed to a 4.5. I went upstairs, got an epidural which by the way was not nearly as bad as everyone made it sound but I also had a GREAT anesthesiologist, and then the Dr. came in and checked me again. I was a 5, he broke my water and then 2 hours later I was a 10. This freaked me out because I thought I would have just a little more time to mentally prepare, maybe take a nap but nope, it was go time. At this point, my family was about 30 min away on their way here from Boise. I started to feel pressure to push at which point the nurse told me to just keep my legs shut, haha. I did hold out for about another hour and my family made it there just in time. I did 3 sets of pushes, and he wasn't really doing anything. His little heart rate was dropping and not coming back up after pushing and we could tell the Dr. was getting worried. He mentioned using the vaccuum after the next set and then said if that didn't work we may have to hurry in to a c- section. When I heard that, both little Boston and I became very determined and he came out pretty much on the next push! :) So, all was well. I only pushed for about 25 min but I have never felt more exhausted in my life. Props to all of you who push for a couple of hours, I do not know how you do that!!! It was like heaven to hear that little cry and know that everything was all right.
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know how things went and that we are both healthy and happy and excited be home and spend lots of time together. I never imagined you could feel so much love for something so tiny. We feel so blessed and are so grateful to be able to have this new little baby in our lives!

Giving in to Blogging

So... I have been in trouble for quite some time for not having a "Blog". I finally started to feel guilty that I am always checking everyone else's without having one of my own. So, I decided the time has come to figure out this blogging thing. I figured now is a good time since there are going to be A LOT of changes in my life in the next little while as I will be joining the wonderful world of motherhood. I think before I just felt like I had nothing to write about that anyone would be interested in but who can resist baby pictures?! Those will be coming soon... For now, here are some slide shows for your enjoyment as kind of a recap of our lives before "the blog".

Some pics from the wedding...

And some of the baby in my belly...

Ok, so give me a little time and I will figure out how to do all of the cool things with my page that the rest of you know how to do!
